IG: The End of Biblical Studies - Hector Avalos

Dr. Hector Avalos joins us to discuss his recent book "The End of Biblical Studies."
Dr. Avalos is a Professor of religious studies at Iowa State University
with degrees from Harvard and the University of Arizona. He has been on
the program prior to discuss with us his very insightful work, "Fighting Words: The Origins of Religious Violence." This time he will discuss why much of Biblical Study is self-serving and dishonest. I am almost done with "The End of Biblical Studies"
and I am finding it an amazing work. IG recommended.. Get it today! He
confirms much of what I have been saying for years about how the
Biblical Studies establishment purposefully changes meaning, conducts
egregious omissions and insertions, and distorts things to
serve the purpose of maintaining the Bible as meaningful and relevant
in todays modern culture. It's all a sham.

I appear on a Christian radio show called Table Talk Radio. It was pretty much a straight forward interview with no challenging questions or serious rebuttals. It was after I heard the actual show I realized why. Listen to the guy after me as well if you can handle his vast intellect. The power of God is definitely with this gentleman. I'm so glad I didn't debate him. I would have been crushed.

DH: Building Relationships with Believers to effect change

The Ebay Atheist and Chris Hallquist discuss working with believers to effect social change. How can atheists work closely with believers to educate them about the dangers of their beliefs? How does an atheist show them the bigotry and prejudice we face everyday? Would they even care? Is it fruitless as many moderate believers will still side with fundamentalists politically? Listen in.

IG: AW Schade - Looking For God

A.W. Schade is the author of a newly release fiction work entitled: "Looking for God within the Kingdom of Religious Confusion".

This book tells the journey of one man's search to find out the truth about god after his daughter's tragic death.

"His search leads him to the turbulent Kingdom of Religious Confusion,
where he hopes to find God in the midst of one of the many diverse
religions. Besieged with doubts of his own faith, he struggles to
maintain an open-mind as he meets with scholars and parishioners of
Judaism, Christianity and Islam, as well as those who do not believe."

This book bridges fiction and non-fiction by cross-referencing many religious facts.

His sites: awschade.com and anotherviewpublishing.com

NOTE: Yes.. that's me singing in the background.
IG: Are Souls Real? - Dr. Jerome Elbert

Dr. Jerome W. Elbert has a Ph.D. in physics from the Univ. of Wisconsin, where he
specialized in high energy nuclear physics. He wrote or co-authored 120
scientific articles. As a Research
Professor at the University of Utah, Dr. Elbert helped create the Fly's
Eye, an optical detector of extremely high energy cosmic rays. On
October 15, 1991, the Fly's Eye observed the highest energy cosmic ray
ever detected. This observation supports the idea that some cosmic rays
travel to our galaxy from other galaxies.

Motivated by a long-term interest in issues near the boundaries of
science and philosophy, Dr. Elbert resigned from his academic position
in 1994. He began research that
resulted in his first book, Are Souls Real? Some of the
topics covered by Are Souls Real? are discussed at : http://ourworld-top.cs.com/Demythologizer/index.htm

Black Freethought and The Civil Rights Movement in the Mid 20th Century

In celebration of Black History Month, Mike
Estes appears to discuss with us, Black Freethought from the 1900's to
1950's. We will look at many of the very influential black
freethinkers, unknown to most, that were involved in the civil rights
movement and black intellectualism.
A memorable quote from the show:
"That is our tradition! A tradition of educating ourselves and beating the odds and mastering the rules that white society have put on us, and once you master those rules then you can change the rules." - Mike Estes - Speaking out in response to those that don't find value in speaking the white man's English well.

Rayven is a woman living a polyamorous (many loves) lifestyle. Deacon Greg Cooper is a man of God that believes the Bible has specific instructions about how loving relationships should be.
Reverend Fred Phelps of Westboro Baptist Church forgot that we had an interview this day, but his daughter connected me with Tim Phelps. Boy oh boy! I'm glad Fred didn't appear, I wouldn't have gotten a word in. We focus on homosexuality in the bible, and why God hates "fags" and America. Tim says some pretty harsh things about gays. No surprise he's been assaulted "hundreds of times".

Their sites:

GodHatesFags.com
GodHatesAmerica.com

Kent Hovind vs InfidelGuy.com - 2004

Mr. Kent Hovind of (DrDino.com)

appeared to debate whether or not evolution is true and also discuss
the truth of Christianity. This program
            was a point/counterpoint style
discussion/debate in which about a dozen listeners called in to challenge or
support Hovind on his claims. This was
a special 2 hour program designed to allow visitors and supporters of
InfidelGuy.com to take Hovind on. IG stayed out of the way most
of the time to allow the callers a say.

* Unfortunately..
we didn't get a chance to discuss Christianity at all. In fact,
Hovind claims it's faith anyway.. so not much to discuss on the
            issue anyway.

I hope enjoy another blast from the past.
